What a weekend!

Our team of five cubs took part in the largest cubs Box Kart event in the country. 40 teams, from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland took part in over 240 races all watched on by a massive crowd of supporters.

The event started with a minute’s silence in remembrance of Her Majesty the Queen.  Every group paraded onto the track and lowered their flag.  It was a moving and unique ceremony. All the participants should be proud of how they conducted themselves.

The cubs took turns driving and pushing the kart, racing against other Cub groups.  We had some amazing wins and some spectacular crashes too!! This year was the first time we had to remove parts of the kart after a race so that it could continue!! It’s all part the excitement and as we reminded the cubs: if you don’t occasionally crash you weren’t trying hard enough!!

After a race off between eight teams, 3rd West Wickham made it through the qualifiers and into the last 16! The cubs dominated their next race to make it into the quarter-finals but had only a few minutes rest before having to race again! Despite a last minute sprint down the closing straight they were just pipped at the finish line.

All the leaders there were amazed and proud of how all the cubs behaved, performed, and raced. A big Well done & thank you to those that participated and supported.

We look forward to racing again next year!
