MOONWALK 2023 – 24TH – 25TH JUNE @ BROADSTONE WARREN
Moonwalk is a highlight in the Bromley Scout Youth Events Team Calendar. Consisting of an overnight incident hike, teams must navigate to around 20 bases across the site and complete the challenge. Challenges consist of a variety of problem solving, critical thinking and teamwork. Points are awarded for reaching and completing bases. Moonwalk 2023 promises to be even more exciting than pervious, with more bases and new challenges. The competition takes place from 2100hrs to 0400hrs.
Date: 24-25 Jun 2023 (Sat- Sun)
Location: Broadstone Warren Scout Campsite, Lewes Road, East Sussex, RH18 5JS
Timings: Teams will need to be at site by 1700 (24 Jun), pick up will be 1030 (25 Jun)
Eligibility: All invested Scouts or Explorers.
Cost: £25 per participant, Leaders and helpers are free of charge. please pay direct to your group, they will make payment to BDS on your behalf.
Feeding: Participants will be provided with dinner (24 Jun), late night snack (24 Jun) and breakfast (25 Jun). Hot and cold drinks will be available to participants throughout the event. Please inform your Group Leader of any dietary requirement on entry.
Competition Details: Please ask your Group Leader for information regarding the competition rules and teams. Teams are between 4 and 7 participants.
Medical: Please inform you Group Leader of any medical issues on entry. A full medical form will be issued closer to the event. Centralised medical cover will be provided for the event at the central camp. Participants will be required to hold their own medication for the duration of the event.
Kit List: Groups will be providing tents for their participants. A full kit list will be issued to participants closer to the event.
Badges: Moonwalk counts towards your Hikes Away Staged Badge. Ask you Group Leader for more details.
Scenario: This year? Time Travel! Something has been changed in the past which has derailed the balance of time. Participants must work out what is wrong. Complete the tasks in the three different time zones past, present and future, to restore the balance of time.
It is important to the Youth Events Team that Moonwalk is fun for everyone. Some teams come for a night-time stroll in the woods and to have a go at a challenge or two. Others plan the fastest route possible and don’t have a moment to lose in their chase for trophy. Most teams are out for between three to five hours, finding around 75% of the bases. Moonwalk is designed so that no matter what your plan is, everyone has a blast.
